A major part of the Master Gardeners' mission, as stated in our Management Guide, is "to develop and enhance community projects related to horticulture, including: horticultural therapy projects, community gardens, and demonstration gardens." We began with small demonstration gardens located in the community. Rainwater harvesting demonstration were added at local schools, and at some demonstration gardens for the students to maintain were also added. Check Demonstration & Trial Gardens for specific details.
In 2008, we began a major demonstration project that we call the Garden Learning Center. Located at the intersection of Highway 34 and FM 1388 in front of the Kaufman County South Annex, the Garden Learning Center is open daily for self tours. Group tours can be arranged by contacting us. Check the Garden Learning Center page for more information about the individual gardens.
