Notable for its extreme diversity. This shrub can grow in full sun to partial shade and is drought tolerant. It produces small flowers in late spring that turn into bright purple, pink or white berries in summer that last through fall.
Shrubs grow to 6-7 feet tall and wide and can be used for a hedge or for specimen plants in the landscape. Small mammals, birds and pollinators are attractive to the berries and flowers.
Historically, the leaves of American beautyberry have been used as an insect repellent. This is another plant where the berries make a tasty jelly!
